This Tutorial reviews how to analyze your new cube with either Tableau or Excel.

After double-clicking on the .TDS file, Tableau Desktop will start. You will see all your dimensions and measures in the left data pane.

You can drag and drop dimensions and measures to explore the data. The example below, with just a few keystrokes, shows a map of clickstream activity (page views and user counts) by city.

To analyze your AtScale cube in Excel, select the “Data” tab, then select “From Database” and then select “From Analysis Services”

Locate the name of the cube that you have previously published under the Publish Status section of the AtScale Design Center. Then select Connection Information.

Next copy the MDX Connection Information from the Connection Information window.

In the Excel Data Connection Wizard, paste the MDX connection information into the Server Name field and provide the admin username and the password. Remember this is the new password that you have configured in the second screen of the guided process.

Then click Next.

Select the database and the cube name, then click Next.

On the next screen click Save Password in File checkbox, answer Yes in the pop-up window and click Finish.

Click Pivot Chart and Pivot Table Report radial button in the pop-up window and then OK.

Highlight your semantic model. Move the scroll bar down to see all the Dimensions and Measures available.
